Origin Verify verification tool

With thanks to the BBC, IPTC has launched a verification tool that natively supports the IPTC Verified News Publishers List.

The tool is available at https://originverify.iptc.org/.

The tool displays a limited set of metadata extracted from signed content using C2PA assertions, and verifies the content signature against the Verified News Publishers List.

If a piece of content has a signature that is valid (technically this means that the hash in the signed manifest matches the computed hash of the content) and the signature matches with a certificate on the Verified News Publishers List, this is displayed in the user interface as seen in the image below:

If the content signature is valid but the signer does not have a certificate on the Verified News Publishers List, the metadata is still displayed but a relevant message it displayed to users:
