It is also responsible for promotion of the standard across providers, aggregators and consumers and liaises closely with the other IPTC Working Groups.

It discusses proposed changes to the standard, it works on guidelines and other help for people and companies using the standard and it organizes the annual Photo Metadata Conference. It is also responsible for reaching out to other organizations related to photo business.

It also collaborates with other organizations on related efforts, like ODRL.

It actively develops the standard and provides a vibrant community for the exchange of best practices and to share experiences implementing the standard.

It evaluates existing video metadata schemas and discusses options and considerations to harmonize them as it drives toward a draft later this year.
