Roger
Bacon, Media Product Manager - Reuters
Roger Bacon is responsible for managing Reuters Media
delivery capabilities, including satellite, internet
and terrestrial feeds & online databases. The
role encompasses the management of content tagging,
rights management and product administration for
Reuters text, pictures, news graphics, and online
products. Roger has more than 25 years experience
within the online news industry. He recently
initiated a program that draws together Editorial
System Providers and Reuters clients to identify
metadata, product and file format improvements. Other
projects he has collaborated on include migrating
all of Reuters images from a third party to the http://pictures.reuters.com and
the introduction of rights management codes to the
production process. |
Peter
Krogh - Peter Krogh Photography
Photographer Peter Krogh is the author of “The DAM Book” (O'Reilly,
2005), the most widely used reference on digital asset management for
photographers. His system provideds theoretical underpinnings,
a solid plan, and practical advice, for filing, finding, protecting,
and re-using photographs.
He is currently serving on the ASMP
Board of Directors. As an Alpha Tester for Adobe, with a specialty
in archive, workflow and metadata, his contributions can be seen
in some features available in Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Photoshop
Lightroom, Adobe Bridge, and the DNG storage format.
Peter consults
with photographers, archivists, and software manufacturers worldwide. |
Jan
Leidicke - BVPA,Germany, and Keystone
Germany
Jan Leidicke, born 1963, is the owner and president of Keystone Germany.
The press-photo agency and photo archive, founded in 1924 and located
in Hamburg, manages an archive of about 4 million images and a daily
newspicture sevice. Keystone started working with digital photos in
the mid 90th and since then working with metadata has become an important
item. Since 1996 Jan Leidicke is also working for the BVPA (the German
Association of Press-Picture Agencies and Photo-Libraries). First in
the council and later as the BVPA president for several years. Nowadays
he is representing the BVPA to the IPTC. |
Harald
Löffler, Research Manager - Ifra
Harald Löffler holds a university degree in mathematics. In 1997
he started to work as senior consultant for Ifra and today he is Ifra’s
Research Manager. His focus is on process analysis and IT systems for
all areas of newspaper publishing. He guided the Ifra working group “Integrated
Publishing Systems”, is co-chair of the Ifra Middle East Committee
and the Ifra Technical Group Publishing. He is Ifra’s representative
to the IPTC and is
the current Chairman of the AdsML Consortium. Harald Löffler is
consulting Ifra members to optimise editorial and advertising processes
and helps to select publishing systems. |
Hiroshi
Maeno, General Manager Digital Photo Software Planning Div. - Canon
Mr Maeno joined Canon in 1982. Since then he works in the Camera
R&D
department and on product planning for Canon camera hardware. |
Clemens
Molinary, Sales Manager
- Fotoware
Clemens Molinari is a FotoWare sales manager, but also involved
in technical innovation and product planning and marketing. He has
more than 25 years experience in the publishing industry, started his
career as a press photographer and graphic artist in the 1980s and
moved into the software industry in the early days of Desktop Publishing.
He is still a very active photographer, intensely using FotoWare's
applications not only during office hours. |

Gunar Penikis is Senior Product Manager for Adobe Bridge and Adobe
XMP at
Adobe Systems Incorporated. He is responsible for defining platforms
and
products that empower the creative community to better manage media
assets
and workflow, enabling them to more efficiently express their vision.
Gunar
holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from

David
Riecks - David Riecks Photography
David Riecks is a well-known correspondent on digital subjects and
a working assignment and stock photographer. He was an early proponent
of digital imaging and is sought after by his peers as a "digital
guru." Riecks regularly contributes to several professional forums,
is involved in many recent standards initiatives, and is a featured
speaker at industry events such as PhotoPlus Expo, and the Microsoft
Pro Photo Summit. He was the only stock photographer involved with
the IPTC working group which developed the IPTC Core metadata
schema; and authored the User's Guide to the IPTC Core.
Riecks chairs
the Stock Artists Alliance (SAA) Imaging Technology Standards committee,
was a founding member of the Universal Photographic Digital Imaging
Guidelines coalition (UPDIG), serves as the Chief Technical Advisor
to the Picture Licensing Universal System coalition (PLUS), and represents
photographers on two IDEAlliance working groups. Riecks founded ControlledVocabulary.com
to assist others with issues on keywording and embeding metadata for
those creating images collections. |

Saunders - BAPLA /
Director, Electric Lane
Sarah Saunders is a consultant in picture archiving and commercial
image sales, and runs consultancy and training company Electric
Lane. She is chair of the BAPLA Metadata Group and has worked
for BAPLA with the PPA Pic4Press Committee on digital guidelines and
a new BAPLA/Pic4Press metadata panel. Electric Lane does training
and consultancy for picture libraries, publishers, not for profit organisations
and corporate companies. |

Schorr, Senior
Product Manager, Apple
He is the senior product manager for Apple's award-winning
Aperture software, a photo workflow and image management application
designed for professional photographers. A graduate of Yale University, Schorr
served as a contributing editor at Macworld Magazine and co-authored
eight books about the Mac, including two editions of "iPhoto:
The Missing Manual" before joining Apple in 2003. |
Jeff
Sedlik, CEO and President, PLUS
Coalition
Jeff Sedlik is the President and CEO of the PLUS Coalition (Picture
Licensing Universal System), an international non-profit organization
for picture licensors and licensees, dedicated to the development and
implementation of image licensing standards and systems. CEPIC is a
charter member of the PLUS Coalition. A leading commercial photographer
for more than 20 years, Sedlik is the past president of the Advertising
Photographers of America. Sedlik is an authority on the business of
image licensing, and provides expert witness and consulting services
to clients in the photography, design, advertising and publishing industries.
A Professor at the Art Center College of Design, Sedlik teaches courses
on business and technical topics. Sedlik received the 2005 "Photography
Industry Leadership Award" from the United Nations International
Photography Council, and was named the 2006 Photo Media "Photography
Person of the Year" by PhotoMedia Magazine. |

Span, Deputy Publishing & Development Manager - The
Mirror Group Newspapers, UK
Simon Spann is Deputy Publishing & Development Manager for Mirror
Group Newspapers (Trinity Mirror) with remit for maintaining and improving
image quality across the group’s national titles. Simon was involved
in the launch of Today newspaper (the first national colour newspaper
in the UK) and subsequently joined Mirror Group as part of the Colour
Development team responsible for implementing the move towards full
colour for the Daily Mirror titles in 1989. |
Michael
Steidl, Managing
Director - IPTC
IPTC Managing Director since 2003, Michael is deep in the business
of creating, promoting and maintaining standards for the news industry.
He has a long record with information technology for news as a consultant
to news agencies for 20 years. Being an engineer by education he also
worked as an editor and managing director for news agencies, hence
knowing the news business in a broad sense. Among many other tasks
at the IPTC he lead the development of the "IPTC Core" standard and
is co-chair of the Photo Metadata Working Group. |

Then 5 years in the graphics software industry (Uniras A/S, Autograph
A/S). Leading into product management position in 1992 with ScanView
A/S building scanners and imagesetters for the printing industry. Since
1995 leading product management position with digital capture products
(digital backs and digital cameras) with Color Crisp A/S and Imacon
A/S. Merger with Hasselblad 2004, where major transition has been managed
to move Hasselblad from the analogue to the digital world. |
Andreas
Trampe, Head of the Photo Department - Stern general interest magazine
Andreas Trampe (44) works since 1996 at Stern magazine, since 8 years
as one of the Heads of the Photo Department. Stern magazine is Germanys
biggest general interest magazine. From 1991 to 1996 he was in the
same position at “Bild am Sonntag”, one of Germanys Sunday
papers. Before that time he worked as freelance photographer for German
newspapers and magazines. After school, in 1982, he finished a traineeship,
an education as a photographer and photo editor in a small picture
agency. After that he worked for eight years as an editorial photographer
for newspapers and magazines. This year, it will be his 25th anniversary
working in this line of business. |
Josh
Weisberg, Director, Digital Imaging Business Development - Microsoft
Josh Weisberg is the Director of digital imaging business development
at Microsoft Corporation. He has over 15 years experience in the computer
and digital imaging industry, and is the author of four books on
digital imaging & color management.
Mr. Weisberg has been employed
at Electronics For Imaging, SuperMac Technology, and Apple Computer,
and has successfully managed and launched numerous products and technologies
including several Microsoft imaging technologies, the Fiery RIP, Splash
PostScript controllers, ColorSync 2.0, and QuickDraw 3D. He has also
served as a consultant to industry leading corporations, including
Intel Corporation, Walt Disney Pictures and Television, and Canon.
Mr.
Weisberg has studied digital imaging at the Rochester institute of
technology and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University
of San Francisco. |
